The Department of Science – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) offering scholarship grants for undergraduate scholarships (tertiary education), in this article we are going to share to you what are the guidelines needed to follow in order to avail the said scholarship.
Here are the Two Types of DOST-SEI Scholarship:
1. RA 7687 Scholarship
Republic Act No. 7687, also known as the “Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994”, provides for scholarships to talented and deserving students whose families’ socio-economic status do not exceed the set cut-off values of certain indicators.
Qualifiers must pursue priority fields of study in the basic sciences, engineering, other applied sciences, and science and mathematics teaching.
1. Merit Scholarship
The DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program, formerly known as the NSDB or NSTA Scholarship under RA No. 2067, is awarded to students with high aptitude in science and mathematics and are willing to pursue careers in the fields of science and technology.
Eligibility for DOST Scholarship
natural-born Filipino citizen; poor, talented and deserving student who belongs to a family whose socio-economic status does not exceed the set values of certain indicators (NOT for MERIT); member of the top five percent (5%) of the Non-STEM strand senior high school graduating class; or member of the STEM strand senior high school graduating class; resident of the municipality for the last 4 years as attested by the barangay chairman (NOT for MERIT); of good moral character and in good health; and qualifier of the 2020 S&T Scholarship Examination
Scholarship Privileges
Monthly Living Allowance (P7,000 per month)
Tuition and other school fees (P40,000 per Academic Year)
Book Allowance (P10,000.00/year)
MS/PE uniform for 1st Semester of First Year only (P1,000.00)
Group Insurance (Premium)
Transportation Allowance for those studying outside of home province (1 economy-class roundtrip fare)
Summer Allowance (if required per curriculum)
Tuition and other school fees (P1,500.00)
Book Allowance of P500.00 (to submit O.R.)
Monthly Allowance (2 months)
Graduation clothing allowance (P1,000.00)
Study Placements
State Universities and Colleges (SUC)
CHED identified Centers of Excellence (COE) or Centers of Development (COD) for the S&T priority program
Institutions with FAAP Level III Accreditation

These are the DOST Scholarship requirements that you need to prepare before your application. The application form can be obtained at the Science Education Institute, 2nd Level, Science Heritage Bldg., DOST Cmpd., General Santos Ave., Bicutan, Taguig City, Metro Manila; DOST Regional Offices; Provincial Science and Technology Centers (PSTC) or Offices of the Congressmen and Senators. It can be downloaded at www.sei.dost.gov.ph or just simply go to this download link.
What are List of DOST Scholarship Requirements?
Bring all necessary requirements and to be submitted that listed below:
RA 7687 Merit
1. Personal Information (Form A)
2. Household Information Questionnaire (Form )
3. Certificate of Good Moral Character (Form C)
4a. Certification that applicant belongs to the senior high school STEM strand class; OR (Form D-1)
4b. Certification that applicant belongs to the upper 5% of the NON-STEM strand senior high school graduating class (Form D-2)
5. Statement of applicant that he/she has not taken any previous DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination and any undergraduate units or post-secondary course (if graduate in the previous year) (Form E)
6. Statement of parent that applicant has no pending application as immigrant to any other country (Form F)
7. Certificate of Residency (Form G)
8. Two recent (1”x1”) pictures
9. Photocopy of Birth Certificate
10. Parent/s 2017 Income Tax Return / W2 /
Employment Contract for OFW / BIR Cert. of Exemption from Filing of ITR / Brgy. Cert. of Indigency
11. Electric bill for 3 consecutive months. Brgy. Certificate of Electric Sharing – If sharing with other households in paying the electricity bills.
12. Non-refundable test fee of P200.00 (SEI can only accept cash, postal money orders, telegraphic transfer, certified cashier’s and manager’s check. Personal checks are NOT acceptable. The payee of the money order should be Science Education Institute)
What is the Exam Coverage?
This scholarship examination is designed to measure abilities that determine academic and professional success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The test includes the following domains: Logical Reasoning, English, Science, Mathematics, Mechanical-Technical and a Self-Inventory part.
Accomplished form can be filed at the Science Education Institute, or DOST Regional Office/PSTC nearest the applicant’s school or home address. (Read: List of DOST Regional Offices with Contact Numbers)
The Test Permit shall be mailed to the applicant/s or school principal for distribution to the applicants. In case the test permit is not received within the week before the examination day, the applicant may inquire from the DOST Regional Office / PSTC and check the nearest designated test center a day before the examination.
When is the Deadline of Filing of Application?
For 2020 DOST Scholarship, you can now start filing your application. The deadline of filing will be on September 6, 2019.
When is the Date of Examination?
The 2020 DOST Scholarship Examination is scheduled on October 20, 2019.
