This root is used since ancient times because of its antiseptic properties in the kitchen and out of it.
It helps people who have problems with the digestive system, and because of that it is considered as a “cure all”.
The ginger has many enzymes that help with the decomposition and digestion of food and the removal of toxins. In fact, ginger is one of the most powerful natural substances in the world.
But the truth is that this herb can cause more harm than good for some people.
Experts warn us that we should not take more than four grams of ginger a day otherwise there may be nausea, heartburn and serious pain, if it is taken in large quantities.
These groups of people should avoid GINGER:
1. Pregnant women
Due to the powerful natural stimulants, ginger can lead to premature contractions, which can lead to preterm labors. You should especially avoid it if you are in the last weeks of pregnancy.
2. Underweight people
Ginger is a great thing for people who want to lose weight, because it kills the appetite and helps in removing the fat. However, those who are trying to gain some weight should avoid it, as well as any other supplement on the basis of this root.
3. People with a blood disorder
The ginger increases the blood flow and it also stimulates it, which is generally a great thing, but not in people who have blood disorders such as hemophilia. In this case, this miraculous plant can make things worse. People who take medication for these disorders should know that ginger may nullify their effect.
4. People who take medications
If you take medicines for blood pressure or diabetes you are in a special risk group when it comes to ginger, because this plant affects the way in which drugs act on your body. It is particularly risky to combine the ginger with anticoagulants, beta-blockers and drugs on the basis of insulin.
5. People with Gallstones
The gallbladder stores bile until the presence of fat in the digestive system calls for it. Gallstones often form in the gallbladder, where they typically cause few problems.
If they migrate into the bile duct and get stuck there, however, they can block bile flow, causing bile to back up in the liver.
When ginger is taken in large quantities, bile production may increase, and the higher level of gallbladder contractions may agitate gallstones and cause them to lodge in bile ducts.
A stone stuck in the bile duct can cause serious illness that may require emergency surgery.
